Reports To: Vice President – Sales & Marketing
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- The Account Manager is primarily responsible for developing new sales within the assigned territory, while also maintaining current customer account base through development of relationships.
- Develop opportunities to cross-sell products to new and current customers.
- Responsible for communicating to supervisor all field intelligence, competitive trends and most current information regarding field sales projects and sales opportunities.
- Develop a working knowledge of ACC product lines.
- Ability to work within all levels of a customer organization, including but not limited to Executive Directors, Purchasing Managers, Plant Managers, Superintendents, and Plant Operations.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for developing new business in assigned markets to achieve profitable growth.
- Maintains all customers within the assigned territory.
- Works in conjunction with Inside Sales/Bid Team to investigate and acquire any intelligence required to make decisions on bid pricing and contract extensions for bid accounts within the region.
- Collaborates with supervisor to establish sales budget/plans and meet or exceed sales budget while operating within established expense budget.
- Maintains a professional working knowledge of Alexander Chemical product lines.
- Maintains a standard of knowledge of company policies and procedures that support EHSS, Responsible Distributor, and all other aspects of the position, and attends safety training and maintains knowledge and adherence to Alexander Chemical’s EHSS standards.
- Develops quotes by obtaining pricing from Pricing Specialist, VP of Sales, or CEO (as needed), and by coordinating with Customer Service or Transportation for freight estimates.
- Maintains current and accurate CRM database to support customer/sales relationships and activities. Database includes:
- Customer contact and price quote information
- Ship-to addresses; and
- Prospecting pipeline for inside and outside sales to utilize with relevant notes.
- Acts as an ambassador for the use of the CRM and assists other employees in training and knowledge of the CRM capabilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ degree in business or chemical discipline is required or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical sales.
- Working knowledge of products, markets and applications is required.
- Demonstrations of previous sales growth experience.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to communicate sound ideas and solutions intelligently to all facets of a customer organization.
- Changes in technology, applications and sales trends require the individual to strive to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current technology and strong business acumen.
- Position requires excellent selling, teamwork, negotiation, organizational, communication and computer skills.
- Individual must be a self-starter with a positive attitude.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is very important in this role.
- Must work effectively in dynamic work environment.
- Strong knowledge and previous application of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Adobe software.
- Up to 60% travel required.
- Will work out of corporate office when not traveling to meet with customers.
- Knowledge and experience with Chempax or a similar industry specific ERP system is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must have sufficient mobility to access all areas of the plant site in support of project work. This will involve climbing/descending ladders and stairways. Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle. Required to wear personal protective equipment in the plant environment, which may include an escape respirator. This position may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
