ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Alexander Chemical Corporation (ACC) is a woman-owned, private corporation that has been operating for more than 70 years. ACC serves the municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment industries, as well as the general manufacturing, refining, metals processing, and pharmaceutical industries. ACC manufactures Sodium Hypochlorite (bleach), Ammonium Hydroxide, and Sodium Bisulfite, and repackages and distributes gases, other liquids, and solid chemicals.
Alexander Chemical has one location in the Kingsbury Industrial Park, located in LaPorte, IN. Alexander Chemical is part of the Carus Limburger Enterprises (CL Enterprises) group of companies, headquartered in Peru, IL
SCOPE OF INTERNSHIP:
- Broaden Intern’s experience in digital marketing.
- Educate Intern in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Expose Intern to other departments of a corporation, specifically Operations, Sales, and Finance.
- Conduct visits to other CL Enterprises companies, and to Alexander’s marketing partner, American Eagle.
OBJECTIVE OF INTERNSHIP:
- Develop three new product-specific webpages for Alexander Chemical’s website.
- Responsible for writing content for three new webpages
- Conduct research on key SEO terms to utilize in content development.
- Collaborate with American Eagle on website setup, to include images and other visual content to enhance the webpage.
- Attend monthly marketing review with American Eagle via Teams or at an offsite location
- Attend weekly Sales Review Meeting
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in, or currently working towards, business or marketing is required.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to communicate sound ideas and solutions intelligently.
- Position requires excellent self-motivation, teamwork, communication and computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is very important in this role.
- Must work effectively in dynamic work environment.
- Strong knowledge and previous application of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Adobe software.
HOURS & BENEFITS:
This internship is intended to span three, eight-hour days per week. Intern will travel to ACC office when not traveling to other CL Enterprises offices or meeting with American Eagle. Intern will be a part-time employee with an hourly compensation rate of $17/hr. Intern is also eligible to participate in the Alexander Chemical 401k Retirement plan. No other health, medical, dental, or insurance benefits are available.
PHYISICAL DEMANDS:
- Must have sufficient mobility to access all areas of the plant site in support of project work. This will involve climbing/descending ladders and stairways. Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle. Required to wear personal protective equipment in the plant environment, which may include an escape respirator. This position may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
