La Porte, Indiana – November 17, 2023 – Alexander Chemical, a proud member of CL Enterprises, celebrated a significant milestone with a ground-breaking ceremony held on Friday, November 17th, marking the commencement of construction for its new headquarters.
The event, hosted at Alexander Chemical’s current La Porte, Indiana location, gathered employees, local officials, partners, vendors, their parent company Carus Limberger Enterprises (CL Enterprises), and other esteemed guests to celebrate the auspicious occasion. Of note in attendance were Inga Carus and Peter Limberger, co-founders of CL Enterprises, Hinesh Patel, CEO of CL Enterprises, Nathan Watson, President and CEO of CL Real Estate (property developer), and Connie Gramarossa, La Porte County Commission President. The event consisted of a ceremonial ground-breaking, short words of congratulations and thanks from many of the key figures in attendance, and a luncheon.
The reconstruction project represents a robust investment, with $5.6 million allocated for real estate development and an $850,000 investment in personal property. This initiative not only underscores the commitment to bolstering the local economy but also aims to create new local job opportunities in sales, leadership, maintenance, and construction, providing nearly 75 temporary positions during the building phase. “This expansion, with $5.6 million allocated for real estate development and an $850,000 investment in personal property, highlights the company’s dedication to economic vitality and job creation. Renowned architect Dirk Lohan, Principal of Lohan Architecture, recognized for his work on Chicago’s Soldier Field, was engaged to design the new facility. The project blueprint emphasizes a sustainable and collaborative space, featuring 18 offices, multiple meeting rooms, a spacious training area, and enhanced file storage facilities. Construction will be facilitated by Larson Danielson Construction, also out of La Porte.
Rob Davidson, President of Alexander Chemical, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s focus on sustainability and functionality, stating, “We are very excited about the next chapter in the development of the Alexander Chemical campus. This new headquarters facility will give our team the much needed room for collaboration, innovation, and growth of our facility and brand. Functional upgrades include a state-of-the-art security station, expanded maintenance facilities catering to the plant and logistics arm, improved parking, and revitalized landscaping.
The project’s realization stemmed from collaborative efforts with support from La Porte County’s approval of 10-year tax abatements in late March 2022. Matt Reardon, director of La Porte County Community & Economic Development, highlighted the pivotal role of various stakeholders in advancing the project, including partnerships with fiber optic providers like Surf Broadband to bolster data communications infrastructure. County Councilman, Randy Novak, affirmed, “This sends a clear message to larger regions and cities that we are a formidable contender for significant corporate developments, showcasing the strength and assets of La Porte County.”
