Acquisition - Carus Corporation Acquires Alexander Chemical

Gil Leavitt, President of Alexander Chemical Corporation, announced that Carus Holding, LLC, a subsidiary of Carus Corporation, purchased all the stock of Alexander Chemical Corporation on February 26, 2010.

"By combining the product and customer base of Carus Corp. and Alexander Chemical, we will continue to provide our customers with the highest quality of products and service, we will improve our efficiencies with our shared strengths, and lower costs for our customers," states Mr. Leavitt.

The Carus Corporation, founded in LaSalle, IL in 1915 is an environmental company that manufactures permanganates, phosphates, and catalysts for the water, remediation, and air purification markets worldwide.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards for any facility that manufactures, uses, stores, or distributes certain chemicals above a specified quantity. This new regulation, depending on the chemicals and the quantities of those chemicals on your site, may require you to register your site by January 20, 2008 and follow other requirements of the standard.

Environment and Safety Awards




In December 2007, Alexander Chemical Corporation recognized their operating locations for outstanding Safety and Environmental Performance.

The Kingsbury, IN facility accomplished a 1-year milestone for operating without an OSHA Recordable Accident and 7 Years without a reportable release to the environment. This facility has 53 full time employees, logging in over 110,000 hours each year.

The Mason Michigan facility was also recognized for operating over 10 years without an OSHA Recordable Accident or a reportable release to the environment. This facility has 6 full time employees.

The awards were presented to all employees by Gil Leavitt, President and Jim Zatorski, Vice President of Operations and Distribution. Receiving the awards for all employees were Al Manns, Production Manager at Kingsbury, IN and Rich Stewart, Facility Manager at Mason, MI.

George Coyle - New Director of Business Development

We are pleased to announce that George Coyle has joined Alexander Chemical as Director of Business Development effective August of 2008. He will serve as Business Development Director increasing opportunities for continued growth of our business.

George has over 32 years experience in all aspects of chemical distribution including operations, purchasing, sales and marketing. He possesses a deep understanding of suppliers and customers in all chemical industry segments. Most recently, he was the Chicago General Manager at Univar. He is a graduate of Illinois Benedictine University.

George and his family live in western Kane County, Illinois. George enjoys all sports and especially he enjoys coaching the sports teams of his two children.
